On Sunday, 7th August 2022 St Alphonsus Maria De Liguori Ward members joyfully celebrated the patron’s feast. Prior to the feast, there was three days of Novena in three houses in the ward.
The festive mass was presided by Rev Fr Gerald Dsouza, and Fr Vincent Saldanha preached the meaningful homily on the prayerful life of St Alphonsus. A large gathering of faithful of the Parish participated at the 7:30 am mass. After the mass cake was distributed to all the parishioners.
Dinner preparation started at the residence of Joachim Sophia Dsouza around 10 a.m. Many members of the ward gathered to prepare the meal and assist in setting up for the cultural evening.
The cultural celebration began at 6:30 pm. The Holy Bible was kept in a dignified place and was honoured by everyone present. The programme was given a start by lighting the lamp by the dignitaries. Juliet Pinto led the prayer session.
Gurkar Vincent Carlo extended a warm welcome to everyone present along with the core committee members presenting roses to each invitee. Secretary Flevy Pinto presented the ward report. A group song, dance, and a skit were performed. Games were conducted and prizes were distributed to the winners. Achievers of the year were felicitated. In the presidential address, Rev Fr Gerald Dsouza said the ward is full of talents, and these talents should be used for the benefit of the parish and society at large. The words of gratitude were given by ward representative Diana Monis. The programme was jointly compered by Prajwal Saldanha, Sherly Dsouza, and Ashel Pinto. A delicious dinner was served. Ward Gurkar took the leadership in these celebrations.
