On Sunday, July 30th, 2023, the members of St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori Ward joyfully celebrated the patron’s feast. Prior to the feast, there was a three-day Novena held in three houses within the ward. The festive Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Gerald D’Souza, and a large gathering of faithful parishioners participated in the 7:30 a.m. Mass. After the Mass, the cake was distributed to all the parishioners.
Preparations for dinner began around 10 a.m. at the residence of Joachim and Sophia D’Souza, with many members of the ward gathering to prepare the meal and assist in setting up for the cultural evening.
The cultural celebration commenced at 6:30 p.m. Juliet Pinto led the prayer session. Tony Pinto extended a warm welcome to everyone present, and the core committee members presented roses to each invitee. Secretary Flevy Pinto presented the ward report. Group dances and games were conducted, and elders of the ward were felicitated. VMK and Theresa Lewis, a couple celebrating their golden jubilee of wedding, were honored. The ward members celebrated Fr. Gerald’s 65th birthday. Diocesan SCC Secretary Asha Monteiro shared her thoughts, Fr. Gerald delivered the presidential address. Flemia Fernandes compered the program, and Flavia Pinto delivered the vote of thanks. Dinner was then served to all in attendance.
