The New Corn Festival was celebrated at Dev Matha Ward of Mother of God Church at John Irene Dsouza’s residence on Sunday 24th September 2023 at 6.30 p.m. The ward Gurkar Irene Dsouza welcomed the gathering. The prayer session was conducted by Paul Dsouza and ward members. The ward members together with the Parish Priest consumed the new corn mixed with the milk.
At 7.00 p.m. there was a get-together where two dances were performed by the children and games were conducted. Shanthi Menezes greeted the birthday celebrants. The former ward Gurkar Dolphy Dsouza was felicitated for his selfless and amazing service to the ward, over the past ten years.
Priston Sequeira and Deyon Joel Dsouza were honored for securing distinction in the 2022-23 SSLC examination. Rev. Fr Gerald Dsouza addressed the gathering. Paul Dsouza thanked all members for the success of the program and the invitees for gracing the occasion. Home-cooked delicious food was blessed and served to all who were present. This program was anchored by Jean Dsouza. All ward members actively participated sharing their joy and unity.
