Pastoral Visit

The Mother of God Parish in Shakthinagar experienced great joy and lasting memories during the pastoral visit of Bishop His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Peter Paul Saldanha on September 2nd and 3rd, 2023.
On September 2nd, 2023, at 3:30 pm, priests and parishioners gathered at the main gate to warmly welcome our beloved bishop, then escorted to the beautifully decorated church. The welcome ceremony and prayer session took place inside the church, during which Bishop enlightened and imparted Indulgences. At 4:00 pm, the Bishop conducted catechism session on the sacrament of confirmation for 30 candidates. Following this, the Bishop celebrated Holy Eucharist, concelebrated by Frs. Gerald, Vincent, Trishan, and Pramod. During the Mass, the Sacrament of Confirmation was administered. Later, at 6:30 pm, Bishop held a meeting with the Parish Finance Council and Parish Pastoral Porishod, who offered insights and suggestions on various matters.
On September 3rd, 2023, at 8:00 am, the Bishop addressed the entire parish community, conducted catechism session on church teachings for the parishioners, and inaugurated the anti-drug awareness month. Subsequently, he celebrated Holy Mass, with Fr. Gerald, Fr. Pramod, and Fr. Trishan as concelebrants. After Mass, the Bishop met the parents of the religious. At 10:30 am, he held a meeting with various associations, BEC, and catechism teachers. In the afternoon, at 3:30 pm, the Bishop visited sick members of the parish, offering prayers and providing devotional communion. At 4:00 pm, he participated in the Basic Ecclesial Communities meeting of St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori Ward. The pastoral visit concluded with valedictory prayers held in the church at 5:00 pm.
This pastoral visit offered a unique and enriching experience for the entire parish, allowing the community to express their faith and deep sense of belonging to the Church. It is our hope and prayer that this visit will inspire a more dedicated Christian life in the years to come.
