The Parish Community Day of Mother of God Church, Mariagiri, Shakthinagar, was celebrated on Sunday, February 4, 2024. At 10:30 a.m., the donors were honored by presenting the candle by Rev. Fr Gerald Dsouza, the Parish Priest followed by the Holy Mass presided over by Rev. Fr Joachim Fernandes, Diocesan Director of SCCs. Rev. Frs Gerald Dsouza, Vincent Vinod Saldanha, Manager Codialbail Press, and Pramod Crasta, Assistant Manager, were the concelebrants. Rev. Fr Joachim Fernandes delivered a Homily with a inspiring message to the gathering about the importance of Prayer, Faith, the Word of God, and Sacraments in our life. Soon after the Mass, the parishioners gathered in the community hall. Action Songs were taught by Asha Monteiro. After the action songs, a delicious lunch was served to the gathering, which was prepared by the parishioners. After lunch, an entertainment and cultural program was organized. The parishioners invoked God’s blessings with a meaningful SCC prayer dance. Anitha Sequeira, Parish SCC convener, welcomed the gathering, in words and the Programme Convener Asha Monteiro, along with the planning committee members, welcomed the gathering by offering the traditional Panpod Udaak, which was received by the ward Gurkars and handed over to the Parish Priest. SCC secretary Jean Dsouza, presented a report of the functioning of SCCs in the years. The achievers in the field of Education, Sports and in Cultural were felicitated. The Vice presidents, Secretaries, SCC conveners, Ward Gurkars, Catechism Teachers, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, and Internal Auditors, who rendered their selfless service in the past five years, were felicitated. A prize distribution was held for the winners of lucky games by the former Vice Presidents Asha Monteiro, Vincent Carlo and Vice President Stany Mascarenhas. The captivating cultural program by the seven wards made the parishioners immersed who enjoyed the programme. The Parish Priest, in his note, specially thanked those who rendered special service throughout the years. Asha Monteiro, the Programme Convener, proposed a vote of thanks. Veena Vas compered the program. The entire programme was planned and framed by the planning committee with the help of Convener Asha Monteiro under the guidance of the Parish Priest.
