The Catechism Day was joyfully celebrated on March 3rd, 2024 at Mother of God Church, Mariagiri, Shakthinagar. The day commenced with the solemnity of the second Mass followed by the way of the cross. Rev. Fr Jerald D’Souza was the main celebrant for the Mass.
Catechism students actively participated in leading the liturgy and the offertory procession, showcasing their dedication and enthusiasm.
Following the Mass, the community gathered in the Mini Hall for a delightful celebration. Refreshments, including snacks and juice, were served to all attendees.
Esteemed guests for the day included Fr. Jerald Dsouza Parish Priest, Vice President of Parish Pastoral Porishod Stany Mascarenhas, Secretary Mary Pinto, Sr Lavita Dias Catechism Teacher, and Jean Dsouza Catechism Coordinator.
The event featured various highlights such as prayer songs led by high school students, welcoming remarks by Jean Dsouza. Sr Lavita Dias expressed her views on the importance of catechism in life and a presidential address by Fr. Jerald D’Souza. Additionally, Catechism teachers were honored for their dedicated service.
Asha Vas conducted an awarding ceremony to recognize the achievements of the students in catechism exams, acknowledging their hard work and dedication.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prajwal Saldanha, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event. Gracy Dsouza compered the program.
The Catechism Day celebration was a meaningful and memorable occasion, fostering spiritual growth and community fellowship. The program concluded with the singing of the Marian hymn.
