Rev. Fr Gerald Dsouza took charge as the Parish Priest of Our Lady Virgin of the Poor Church, Uppinangady on May 19, 2024. At 2:45 pm, the Shakthinagar parishioners gathered at Mother of God Church for a prayer service and to accompany Fr Gerald. Rev. Fr Pramod Crasta and Rev. Fr Vincent Saldanha led the prayer service, during which Fr. Gerald imparted blessings.
Rev. Fr Gerald was welcomed to Uppinangady Parish by Rev. Fr Abel Lobo, the outgoing Parish Priest, Vice President and Secretary of PPP, Commission Convenor, and all the faithful of Uppinangady Church.
The installation of Rev. Fr Gerald was led by Very Rev. Fr Jerome Lawrence Mascarenhas, Vicar Forane, St. Paul’s Eastern Vicariate, as the delegate of Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore. Rev. Fr Abel handed over the responsibilities to his successor, Rev. Fr Gerald. A short welcome program was organized by the Parish Pastoral Parishad.
Rev. Fr Gerald was accompanied by Rev. Fr Apolinaris Crasta, Parish Priest, Mother of God Church, Mariagiri, Shakthinagar, Rev. Fr Vincent Vinod Saldanha, Manager, Codialbail Press, Rev. Fr Ronald Prakash D’Souza, Parish Priest, Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Church, Gantalkatte, Rev. Fr Pramod Crasta, Asst. Manager, Codialbail Press, and parishioners of the Mother of God Church, Mariagiri, Shakthinagar. Rev. Fr Stany Pinto, Campus Director, St Philomena College, Puttur, and Rev. Fr Lohith Ajay Mascarenhas, Asst. Parish Priest, Mai de Deus Church, Puttur, were also present.
