The New Corn Festival was celebrated at Dev Matha Ward on September 15, 2024, at the residence of Lilly Rodrigues. The event began at 6:00 p.m.
Ward Gurkar Irene Monteiro warmly welcomed everyone. A prayer service led by ward members followed, including a floral offering to Infant Mary and reflection of gospel and on the festival’s significance.
Rev. Fr Apolinaris Crasta blessed the new corn, which was shared among the ward members as a symbol of community.
Parish Priest along with PPP Vice President and Secretary led the Ward Gurkar election. Irene Monteiro was re-elected for the term of four years.
Fun games were organized, and prizes were awarded to the winners. The September birthdays were celebrated, and the evening concluded with the home cooked meal.
A total of 62 members from 21 families attended, fostering joy and unity. The program was hosted by Ida Sequeira, Paul Dsouza thanked everyone.
