On 3rd August 2025, a medical health checkup camp was held at Mother of God Church hall, Shakthinagar. Stree Sangaton, Catholic Sabha, Commission for women, SFO and ICYM coordinated with Jewels Group, in association with Fr Mullers Hospital, A J Hospital and Indian Cancer Society organized this free health camp for local residents and parishioners, aiming to promote health awareness and provide basic medical services. The camp witnessed an encouraging response, with over 185 individuals availing the various health service.
The camp rendered the various checkup in:
• Random blood sugar testing
• ECG (Electrocardiogram)
• Blood Pressure and Skin checkup with consultation
• General medical checkup and consultation
• Women’s cancer care screening and consultation
• Dental checkups, examinations and consultation
The health camp began with a formal stage program graced by several distinguished guests. The dignitaries on the dias were Parish Priest Rev.Fr. Apolinaris Crasta, Rev.Fr. Pramod Crasta, Dr. Elroy Saldanha, consulting surgical oncologist and robotic surgeon, Fr. Muller Medical college hospital, Dr. Sonia K L Sequeira, Community health nursing camp coordinator, Fr. Muller medical college hospital, Dr. Veeksha Nayak representative of A.J. Hospital and Mr. Ranjan K.V. representative from Indian cancer society. Also present were Mr. Bonaventure Dsouza, Social worker, Jewels group, Mother of God parish Pastoral Parishod Secretary Mrs. Mary Pinto, and Commission coordinator Mrs. Maria Dcruz.
The program commenced with a warm welcome address by Mrs. Mary Pinto. Mrs. Meena Fernandes briefed about the objectives and mission of the Jewels group. Inaugurating the session Fr. Apolinaris Crasta informed the need for everyone to protect their lives by undergoing health checkup regularly.
Dr. Elroy Saldanha in his session on cancer addressed the gathering through LED presentation, focusing on the causes, early detection and preventive measures to mitigate risks associated with various types of cancer depending on the stage of the decease. Early detection and diagnosis are curable he said.
Mr. Bonaventure while proposing Vote of Thanks, expressed gratitude to all attendees and organizers. The entire program was meticulously compered by Mr. William Colaco ensuring the smooth flow of all procedures.
The event was an enormous success duly appreciated and applauded by all, for the initiative in bringing healthcare awareness and services.
