Celebration of New Harvest festival and Election of Gurkar at St Alphonsus Maria De Ligouri Ward of Mother of God Church
On Monday the 9th September 2025 at the Mother Mary Grotto of the ward , all the ward members gathered for a celebration of the new Harvest Feast. At 6.30pm the event began with recitation of the Angelus and the Rosary, and prayer service ended with offering of flowers in the traditional manner.
As Parish priest could not attend, the representative of the Ward Mr Norbert Rodrigues invoked the blessings on the new corn and the Gurkar shared the same with ward members as a symbol of unity.
In absence of the parish priest, the election of the Gurkar was conducted in presence of the PPP vice president Mr Stany Mascarenhas and the Gurkar of Vailankani ward Mr William Colaco. Mrs Irene Carlo was re elected for further term of 4 years.
The program concluded with proposal of vote of thanks by representative Mrs Flemia Fernandes.
