The Dev Matha Ward Feast was joyfully celebrated on Sunday, 18th January 2026 with great devotion and fellowship.
The celebration began in the morning with the Holy Eucharist at 7:00 a.m., which was meaningfully prepared and conducted by the ward members. The faithful participated devoutly, offering thanksgiving to God Almighty for His abundant blessings. Before the Holy Mass, the inauguration of the Children’s Year 2026 was held through the symbolic opening of the screen. The inauguration was graced by the Vicar Rev. Fr. Apolinaris Crasta, Resident Priest Rev. Fr. Pramod Crasta, Parish Pastoral Parishad Vice President, Secretary, and all Ward Gurkars, who were present for the occasion.
The festal celebration took place in the evening at 6:15 p.m. at the residence of Mr. John Irene D’Souza. The programme was honoured by the presence of the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Apolinaris Crasta, along with the PPP Vice President, Secretary, and other PPP members, who graciously added dignity to the celebration.
The programme commenced with a prayer service led by Mrs. Louisa Monteiro along with the ward members. The gathering was warmly welcomed by the Ward Gurkar, Mrs. Irene Monteiro, and roses were presented to all the invitees as a gesture of respect and love. The Annual Ward Report was presented by the Ward Secretary, Mrs. Meena Pinto, highlighting the various activities and progress of the ward during the year.
The evening was enlivened with games and cultural programmes, with enthusiastic participation from members of all age groups. Mrs. Jean Maria Noronha extended birthday and wedding anniversary wishes to the celebrants of the ward and the guests whose special occasions fell during the month. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the games.
A meaningful message emphasizing unity and togetherness was delivered by Mrs. Asha Monteiro, followed by an inspiring address by the Parish Priest. The programme was well compered by Mrs. Juliana Lobo, and the vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs. Louisa Monteiro, expressing sincere gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the ward feast and to the invitees for their gracious presence.
The celebration concluded with a delicious home-cooked dinner, shared in a spirit of joy and fellowship, making the Dev Matha Ward Feast a truly memorable occasion.
