The Nativity of Mary and New Corn Festival was celebrated with great joy and devotion by the members of Vailankani Ward on 20th September at 4.00 p.m. at the residence of Mr. Thomas and Mrs. Rita Dsouza.
The programme began with a warm welcome by Mr. Thomas D’Souza. The presence of the resident priest, Rev. Fr. Ivan Cordeiro, added spiritual significance to the celebration. A prayer service was conducted by the ward members, followed by the offering of flowers to Infant Mary as a mark of love and devotion.
Rev. Fr. Ivan Cordeiro invoked God’s blessings over the new corn drink. All the ward members then shared the new corn drink together as a symbol of love, fellowship, and unity.
Miss Veena Vas conducted a game for the members, adding fun and enthusiasm to the occasion. Mr. Vincent Dsouza conducted the Birthday and Teachers’ Day celebrations, honouring those celebrating their birthdays in the month of September as well as the teachers of the ward.
Ward Gurkar, Mr. William Colaso, shared information regarding the upcoming Ward Feast celebration and encouraged the members to participate actively in the preparations and festivities.
Rev. Fr. Ivan Cordeiro delivered a meaningful message and appreciated the enthusiasm, unity, and active participation of the ward members.
At the conclusion of the programme, Mrs. Gracy Dsouza proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs. Mishal Crasta compered the programme.
The celebration brought together 38 members from 18 families, making it a memorable occasion filled with prayer, joy, fellowship, and gratitude.
