Celebration of the Feast of the Assumption of Mother Mary and the 80th Independence Day.
The faithful gathered at Mother of God Church, Shakthinagar, for the 7:00 a.m. Holy Mass on the occasion of the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Rev. Fr. Ivan Cordeiro was the main celebrant, with Rev. Fr. Apolinaris Crasta as the concelebrant.
Soon after the Holy Mass, parishioners gathered in front of the stage to commemorate the 80th Independence Day of India. The Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Ivan Cordeiro, hoisted the national flag and delivered the message of the day.
The programme began with a welcome address by Shamith Rodrigues, followed by a speech on the importance of the day by Alina Patrao. The programme was compered by Jenisha D’Souza, while Prinston D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks. The YCS members added patriotic spirit to the celebration by singing a patriotic song.
Rev. Fr. Apolinaris Crasta, Parish Priest, Mrs. Gracy D’Souza, PPP Secretary, and Mrs. Maria D’Cruz, YCS Animator, were present on the dais.
The celebration concluded on a patriotic note, reminding everyone of their responsibility to uphold the values of freedom, unity, peace and service to the nation.
