Parish Summer camp for children’s

The Parish Summer Camp “NAKTIR” (meaning “Star”) was successfully held from April 13th to 16th, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., bringing together children and parish members for four days of spiritual growth, learning, and joyful fellowship.

The camp commenced with a prayer service led by the Parish Priest. The inauguration was carried out in a unique and creative manner by symbolically placing the fruits of the Holy Spirit onto a banana tree, signifying growth in faith and virtues. The dignitaries present on the dais included Parish Vicar Rev. Fr. Apolinaris Crasta, Diocese Basic Ecclesial Secretary Asha Monteiro, PPP Vice President William Colaco, Secretary Gracy D’Souza, Commission Coordinator Maria D’Cruz, and Catechism Teachers’ Coordinator Jean D’Souza.

The first day featured an engaging session on social media conducted by Wilson Pereira, guiding participants on the responsible and meaningful use of digital platforms.

On the second day, Rev. Fr. Ronson Pinto led an insightful session on the Bible, helping children deepen their understanding of Scripture. This was followed by a creative craft session conducted by Jecintha Monteiro, encouraging participants to express their creativity.

The third day included an informative session on health and hygiene conducted by Veena Machado and Louisa Monteiro, emphasizing the importance of personal well-being. A lively quiz competition organized by William Colaco saw enthusiastic participation from the children.

The fourth day featured a meaningful session by Rev. Fr. Alwyn Richard on the role of children within the family, highlighting values of responsibility, love, and unity. Later, Asha Monteiro briefed the participants on Basic Ecclesial Communities, helping them understand the importance of small faith communities in parish life.

The camp concluded with a vibrant valedictory program, where participants presented group performances, showcasing their talents and learnings from the camp. Winners of various competitions were awarded prizes in recognition of their efforts and achievements. The Parish Vicar appreciated the dedication and sacrifice of the parish members who were present throughout all four days, rendering their valuable services, and presented them with memorable gifts as a token of gratitude.

Throughout all four days, the camp was enriched with action songs, games, and the celebration of Holy Mass, creating a spiritually uplifting and joyful atmosphere.

The summer camp “NAKTIR” truly lived up to its name, inspiring participants to shine like stars in their faith and daily lives. It was a meaningful and enriching experience that fostered faith, knowledge, and a strong sense of community.
